Sometimes it feels like the world is spinning too fast—and not in a charming carousel kind of way.
It’s more like you blink and suddenly there’s a new app, a new crisis, a new way we’re supposed to talk, walk, or think. If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “Am I falling behind?”—you’re not alone.
This cultural moment moves at a breakneck speed, and older women often get cast as the ones who “just can’t keep up.” Codswallop.

Take a breath. Let’s step out of the frenzy and into something more grounded. Here’s the truth: you’re not behind—you’re equipped. You’ve been quietly assembling a toolkit your whole life. You just might not realize how powerful it is.
Today we’re going to pop it open.
The Magnifying Glass. Old-school? Definitely. Useful? Absolutely. Whether you’re squinting at a menu or finding truth in a sea of noise, a magnifying glass helps you get up close and personal. These days, the metaphoric kind is even more essential. Use it to zoom in on what matters, catch the fine print of life, and spot the stories that slip under the media radar—like, say, millions of people showing up to defend democracy. Focus. This is your power to discern.
The Tape Measure. Mary Poppins had it right: measure not just the height, but the heart. Use it to assess how well your actions—and the actions of those around you—align with your values. Integrity is the gold standard. Measure twice, act once.
A Flashlight. Life can get murky and even dark. For algorithms, gaslighting, and plain old confusion, a flashlight is crucial. Use it to illuminate what’s hidden, bring comfort to your inner qualms, and clarify the mess. Shine brightly!
Wire Cutter. Bound by old stories? Tied up in “I can’t” or “I’m not the kind of person who…”? Snip, snip. Cut through those mental zip ties. Your limitations might just be beliefs in disguise. Free yourself. You’ve got places to go and you can only get there when you are unfettered.
Safety Gear. Confession: I used to jump into big projects without gloves, goggles, or any kind of prep. Not anymore. In this third chapter, protecting our energy, our bodies, and our hearts is non-negotiable. Choose your gloves wisely, and never skimp on protective boundaries.
Pliers. Sometimes things are stuck. Really stuck. Old habits, awkward conversations, squeaky life pivots. Pliers give you the grip to loosen what resists. You’ve got the strength. You just needed the right tool.
Swiss Army Knife. A wise woman’s multi-tool, even if we can’t tote them in our carry-ons like the old days. A little blade, a corkscrew, tweezers, scissors—versatility in your back pocket. Open the bottle, clip the labels, remove the splinter. Resilience in your hands.
Bring your own tools—or borrow ours. You're nobody's fool. You have tools. The WonderCrone workbench is open. Come sharpen your tools with us at WonderCrone.com. Wisdom meets wonder here.

I love this way of thinking about my tools - thank you!
I love this! What a great way to frame things. I love the idea of cutting the mental zip ties and being unfettered.
