Blog #51. Life's Lost & Found

Arriving into our third chapter is like stepping off a train into a bustling station—equal parts chaos and charm, where every platform holds the promise of a new adventure. But before we rush forward, there’s a small office tucked away in the corner, waiting for us: the Lost and Found.

This isn’t your standard stash of misplaced umbrellas and forgotten luggage. No, this is the Lost and Found of Life, a treasure trove of some things worth leaving behind, and others waiting to be reclaimed.

You can imagine what’s been abandoned in a hurry: a tattered coat, a lonely glove, an old scarf. But alongside the clutter, there’s something else—beliefs we’ve outgrown, expectations that never truly fit, outdated stories about who we were supposed to be. The notion that we should shrink as we age? Let’s dump that right next to the overstuffed suitcase labeled Approval-Seeking and Self-Doubt.

While we’re at it, let’s rummage around and see what’s worth losing. How about that Good Girl Conditioning? That ingrained habit of prioritizing others' comfort over our own joy? Toss it. Oh! I just found some Fear of Judgment. We’ve spent decades worrying about what others think. Lose it. Hang on. Here’s some Outdated Narratives About Aging. If society still expects us to fade quietly into the background, they haven’t been paying attention. Let that one go, too.

When we let go of what doesn’t serve us, we make space for what does. In this Lost and Found, we also find other things. So, what have we found? Oh, look, your voice! Say what you mean, ask for what you need, and take up space. You’ve earned it. And over there is Creative Energy. Whether it’s art, writing, gardening, or learning something new, reclaim the power of creating for the sake of creating. Let’s tuck that into our bag. And just right next to it is the Right to Play. Life isn’t all serious business. Laugh loudly, try something ridiculous, embrace curiosity. Play is a radical act of rebellion. Tag! You’re it!

This is the essence of aging in power—stepping forward with strength and confidence, embracing the wisdom that comes with lived experience, and curating a third chapter that’s unapologetically ours. This is where we redefine aging, not as a slow fade into the background, but as a vibrant, full-color adventure. Pack layers.

And the best part? We don’t have to navigate it alone. There’s a growing community of bolder older women who are flipping the script, supporting each other, and proving that the best years aren’t behind us—they’re right here at Where Wisdom Meets Wonder on Mighty Networks, waiting to be claimed.

So, as you stand at this metaphorical train station, ask yourself: What do you need to lose? And more importantly, what’s been waiting for you to find? Come join me at WonderCrone.com, where we’re curating a third chapter filled with wisdom, wonder, and a few well-earned shenanigans.

I love this Jen! Especially the part about thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, etc that we need to lose. Shedding in the year of the snake as we discussed at the retreat. Xoxo
