Sacagawea

Use common sense and ancient wisdom to move along your path

Sacagawea

Sacagawea was born around 1788 in the Lehmi Shoshone tribe. Her short life was full of challenges and yet she persevered to guide one of the most iconic adventures of discovery in the early history of the US – the Lewis and Clark expedition. She was a significant asset in numerous ways: searching for edible plants, making moccasins and clothing. She delivered her son just two months before the expedition’s launch and continued undaunted. The presence of a woman and child accompanying a party of men indicated peaceful intentions allaying suspicions of approaching Indian tribes. 195 years later, the Sacagawea dollar coin was introduced in 2000, the date of the coin in the medallion. Sacagawea is a model of persistence and tenacity, using her many common-sense talents and the ancient wisdom of her people which we can find within ourselves if we only look and act
